Honeybees

Our honeybees are some of the busiest residents at Lavender Hive Depot, and probably the most unpredictable!

We started keeping bees as part of our plans for the farm, and it's been quite an education. Between checking hives, watching for pests, feeding colonies, and trying to make sure everyone is healthy, there's always something to learn.

In summer 2026, we harvested our first small batch of honey, which was pretty exciting! We've also started making beeswax ornaments and are looking forward to experimenting with more products as our beeswax supply grows.

Of course, the bees don't always cooperate with our plans. We've had strong colonies, struggling colonies, and a few surprises along the way. We're learning to take the good with the bad and do our best to keep our bees healthy.

For now, we're focused on getting our colonies through the winter and looking forward to another season of beekeeping.

And someday, we hope to have plenty of lavender blooming nearby for them to visit!
